North Norfolk Vikings Swimming Club recorded its best results in 2023 since the club was formed in 1987.

At a packed meeting of parents and supporters at the North Walsham Community Centre, lead coach Sam Watts informed the meeting that the swimmers had won 198 medals and  592 personal best times were achieved.

Club chairwoman Sarah Buchan, who herself won a bronze medal at the Copenhagen Open Iron Women Triathlon, went on to highlight achievements in her annual report.

Sarah reported that it was not just the top swimmers who stole the headlines but all swimmers have achieved so much this year.

The fear of the first gala has been overcome by many of our new swimmers, competing for the first time and club swimmers have achieved 28 county qualifying times, more than in previous years with the hope that some of these will achieve regional times.

The club has welcomed Norwich Swim School "Little Fish" as a feeder club.

They are too small to form their own competitive club but they can now compete under the Viking banner and were involved in the recent club championships.

At the conclusion, various awards and medals were presented by the coaching staff.

Darcie Lee, aged 10, was the development swimmer of the year. This section has been a massive success this last year with the club now having to form a waiting list for vacancies in this section
