Sheringham FC is about to embark on its second season in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.
After finishing in seventh place last season, they are looking to build on the successes of the campaign, which included reaching the second qualifying round of the FA Cup and the second round proper of the FA Vase.
After losing several players in the pre-season, joint managers Jon Abbott and Lewis Plowman set about rebuilding the squad over the summer.
While club stalwart Shane Cox and long-serving clubmen Graham Hinton, George Abbott, and Tim Cary were retained, no fewer than 10 players were brought in to bolster the squad and add competition for places.
Pre-season saw big wins over Swaffham (8-0) and Wells Town (7-0), as well as a 3-1 victory against Easton FC.
The team experienced narrow 2-1 losses against higher league opposition in Gorleston and Wroxham, and a 1-1 draw against Great Yarmouth.
The season kicks off on Saturday with a trip to Long Melford, followed by the visit of recently relegated Dereham Town on August 1. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
The club is always looking for help to run matchdays, and currently, there is an opening for a catering assistant to manage the drinks and food kiosk at the club.
This is a paid position, and anyone interested should email vacancies@sheringhamfootballclub.co.uk.
Additionally, the youth section of the club is also in need of volunteers and players to join their teams.
If any parents are looking to get their child involved in sports, the club would love to hear from you. Please visit the Sheringham Youth FC Facebook page and send them a message.
