From a new Lidl to Domino's pizza opening, here are five changes happening to Norfolk businesses in December 2024.
1) Horning Post Office
Horning's only post office closed its doors in May when postmasters Andrew and Adrienne Seddon retired.
But Gail and Ian Watling, who run the Tidings Newsagents and Convenience Store down the street, offered to open a post office counter at their premises.
The original opening date in November at the site in 29 Lower Street was delayed due to an issue installing the Horizon system.
The counter opened to the public on Tuesday (December 3).
2) Lidl in Downham Market
Norfolk's newest Lidl store is opening its doors in Bexwell Road on Thursday (December 5) bringing 40 new jobs to the area.
The store spans 1,251m² and features a bakery, one of the brand's famous middle aisles and customer facilities including toilets and a baby changing station.
The occasion will be marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony including students from Hillcrest Primary School.
3) Domino's Pizza in Long Stratton
opened its doors on Monday (December 2) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The pizza chainThis latest opening forms part SK Group’s, Domino’s largest franchise partner, ambition to open 10 new sites ahead of Christmas, which will create 250 jobs nationwide.
The store, which marks Domino’s first opening in Long Stratton, will be open seven days a week from 11am to 11pm.
4) Urban Bites sandwich shop opening in Norwich
Popular eatery Urban Bites, which hails from North Walsham originally, confirmed it would be opening its second site in the Norwich Lanes on December 10.
It is best known for its hog roast sandwiches, burgers and loaded fries.
Thanks to a successful few years in business, the pair decided to launch their Norwich venue choosing the premises in the former Arca next to Turtle Bay and Cosmic Jo's.
5) CC Wells market stall to stop trading

The company that runs market stalls across four towns will beBased in Dereham, the business that sells fresh fruit and vegetables announced it will no longer be attending the markets in Bungay, Beccles, Sheringham, and Watton.
The decision was made after one of its directors, Myles Whitehair, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
