A foodbank is asking people to donate festive food to help families in crisis this Christmas.

North Norfolk Foodbank wants to collect enough Christmas food from local people and businesses to give every client some festive treats.

In previous years, families are said to have cried with joy at receiving a simple parcel of food, with children’s faces lighting up at the prospect of a few sweets or a selection box.

North Norfolk Foodbank manager, Julie Hunter Jennings, said: "Christmas is a very tough time to be hungry – it’s cold and it is heartbreaking to know you cannot give your children a Christmas treat when everyone else is celebrating.

"Hidden behind closed doors there are many local families with little to look forward to this Christmas, the good news is we can all help.

"We hope that the people of North Norfolk will embrace our Christmas appeal to give local people with little to look forward to a happier Christmas."

Christmas food contributions can be delivered to North Norfolk Foodbank at Cromer Methodist Church or left at a designated donation point.

Donations should be made by Friday, December 6.
