Two beaches in Norfolk have scooped national acclaim after being named among England's top places for a winter stroll.

A study by Go Outdoors has taken into account average rainfall, temperature, daylight hours and popularity to rank the nation's best beaches.

Being named at number six, Holkham beach scored well across all the categories.

Holkham was even named one of the world's best beaches by The Telegraph in August, with the judges being wowed by its cinematic appeal captured in Shakespeare in Love.

Notable for having Britain's largest seal colony, the expansive sands and wildlife spotting opportunities of the east led to its high ranking.

The winter months are especially popular for seal spotters with the pupping season well under way.

Friends of Horsey Seals has warned that the public should stay well away from any animals on the beach - with any photos being taken from a safe distance.
