Two Norfolk restaurants are in the running for a major national award. 

The shortlist has now been revealed for the 'Restaurant of the Year' category ahead of The National Fish & Chip Awards 2025. 

Two of the ten businesses selected are in Norfolk - Eric’s Fish & Chips in Thornham and Upstairs at No1 Cromer, which also holds an AA Rosette for culinary excellence.

Alongside traditional fare, at Eric's Fish & Chips you can enjoy small plates, including black pudding fritters and arancini, and Upstairs at No1 also offers seasonal specials.

Andrew Crook, awards organiser and president of the National Federation of Fish Friers, said: "Restaurant of the Year is a favourite category for the judges as there is so much variety.

"It is inspirational to see how our shortlisted line-up is overcoming challenges and thinking of new ways to encourage repeat business in the current climate."

More assessments are to come, which will see the shortlist halved and the five finalists revealed.

The ceremony will take place on February 26 2025 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel in London. 

French's Fish Shop in Wells has been shortlisted in the takeaway category.
