A village hall in Norfolk has had its café broken into.

Hoveton Village Hall had its community café building, situated at the side of the hall, broken into.

The hall was notified about the break-in after members of the Men's Shed, who meet once a week on a Wednesday next door to the café, had noticed broken glass outside the building.

Kerry Walker, secretary at the village hall said: "The vandal had jemmied the padlock and the shutter came down.

"They then smashed the window to the café, but nothing was taken and there was no sign that they had actually entered.

"The Men's Shed found a piece of wood we believe was used to smash the window.

"They then seemed to have closed the shutter again and wedged it shut with a piece of glass, as if it never happened, a very thoughtful vandal."

The incident has been reported to the police and is believed to have happened during the last week.
