Plans to tear down and rebuild a farmhouse in north Norfolk have been lodged by a family who want to see it become their home.

The applicant, Jonathan Doughty, submitted a bid to demolish and rebuild an existing farmhouse at Wood Farm, in Edgefield, near Holt which, if approved, will see him and his family develop the project.

Mr Doughty said in the application: "With over 20 years of experience in design management and construction, I am well-equipped to lead this self-build project."

Mr Doughty also said the farmhouse has undergone extensive alterations since its original construction as two separate cottages.

Mr Doughty said: "It is evident that the existing farmhouse is compromised beyond reasonable repair."

"The proposed demolition of the existing structure and the necessity for a new farmhouse aligns with modern standards and the aesthetic of the Norfolk countryside.

"The new farmhouse will be a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, honouring the rich agricultural past of Norfolk while providing a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing home."

A decision from North Norfolk District Council is expected by December 9.
