A man ended up in deep trouble after becoming stuck in mud while crossing an estuary.
He was crossing the sludge at Morston Quay this afternoon, during the low tide.
However when nearing the halfway point his legs became submerged in the mud, which rose to his waist and trapped him.
A call to 999 was made and two fire crews from Wells and Holt quickly made their way to the scene.
Armed with dry suits and wading poles, two firefighters made their way through the estuary to help free the trapped man.
Luckily the tide was heading out of the quay giving the crews more time to rescue the man.
After around 40 minutes he was released and the crews stood down.
The rescue took place on Crown Estate Land which is leased to Natural England.
