Schools across Norfolk and Waveney could win new sport equipment - and even receive a visit from an Olympic athlete - as this newspaper launches a new promotion.

The campaign, called Sports Equipment for Schools, kicks off next week, with tokens printed in every edition of our papers across Norfolk and Suffolk and the first appearing on Monday, September 30 in our sister daily papers.

The promotion will then run for 10 weeks until the final tokens on December 7.

The daily printed papers will have a single token each day and double tokens in the weekend editions.

Regular token bonanzas will also take place throughout the campaign with bonus tokens for schools to collect.

Anthony Carroll, editor, said: "Modern life often means our children are no longer as active as they once were.

"So this is a great opportunity to spark a passion for sport in our youngsters that might well last a life time.

"Get collecting and let's get loads of great equipment into our schools."

The main winners will receive primary athletics kits, along with the Olympian visit, worth more than £1,300.

Among other items, the kits will contain long jumps, footballs, foam javelins, balance beams and stopwatches.

All schools which collect at least 1,000 tokens will receive a throw pack worth £250 containing: Throws PAK Bag, foam javelin, primary discuses, primary shots, primary hammers and medicine balls.

There will also be an infant version of this available for the schools with younger children.

And there will be a second-place prize of a triathlon kit worth more than £900.

The prizes are being provided by Cambridge-based company Great Athletes.

Schools must register to be eligible for prizes.
