Tributes have been paid to an “amazing husband and father” who took his own life at his parents’ home in north Norfolk.

The body of Scott Hammond was discovered by his father, Colin Hammond, inside their garage in Beeston Regis near Sheringham

The 46-year-old, of Hitchin in Hertfordshire, was a self-employed carpet cleaner and been visiting his parents when he took action to end his life on September 7.

A heartfelt tribute posted to his business page on social media said: “It is with a very heavy heart to tell you all that Scott lost his battle with mental health and took his own life.

"He had been unwell for the last three years.

“He was an amazing husband and father and we are heartbroken. Thank you all for your support over the years. I know that Scott thought so much of you all.

“Scott’s memory will live on.”

A Go Fund Me page was created in his memory and raised more than £5,300 to help fund his funeral and support his five children.

Jodie Mahoney, who organised the fundraiser, said: "Our beloved Scott recently passed.

“Scott was a wonderful husband and father-of-five who touched the lives of those around him. He leaves behind Vikki and their children.

“Scott dedicated his life to his family, and he adored Vikki and his kids.

"He was quite shy if he did not know you well, but once you were close (and after a few bags of Haribo) you would be belly-laughing on the floor after his silly and crazy antics.

“We are all devastated by Scott’s loss.

“Thank you all for supporting the Hammond family.”

An inquest into his death was opened at Norfolk Coroner’s Court, based at County Hall in Norwich, on September 19.

Assistant coroner Christopher Leach adjourned for a full inquest to take place next year.
