Plans to turn the long-closed Constantia restaurant in East Runton, near Cromer, into flats are pending consideration with North Norfolk District Council.
The restaurant closed permanently four years ago due to Covid.
The current application proposes a change of use from a restaurant and two flats into eight flats, consisting of two one-bedroom flats and six two-bedroom flats.
The plans also include sustainable design features to reduce environmental impact.
This includes upgraded insulation, energy-efficient heating systems, and fitting low-energy lighting throughout.
The design also incorporates rainwater harvesting for use in a communal garden.
A planning document associated with the application states: “The proposed conversion of The Constantia Cottage Restaurant and existing flats into eight residential flats offers a sustainable and appropriate reuse of the building, providing much-needed housing in East Runton.
“The design respects the character of the existing building and its surroundings, while the access and sustainability measures ensure that the development is inclusive and environmentally responsible.”
