An author is set to share readings from his latest book and reflect on experiences from his police career.

Sheringham author, Gary Powell, will read extracts from That Damned Fly: A Life in Verse at the Sheringham Community Centre, covering everything from his police career that saw him travel across the world, the lack of high street banks, to the absolute brilliance of St Paul's Cathedral.

The event is on Friday, July 12 with doors opening at 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start.

The £5 tickets are purchasable from Gary or The Kitchen, located at 17 Station Road, and all proceeds will fund The Healing Harbour charity.

The charity is also set to receive 10pc of profits from the sales of the book.

Autograph-hunters are in luck as signed copies will be available to purchase on the night.

After writing about London squares in Square London, and publishing three factual crime books, Mr Powell has recently made a move into crime novel territory with his debut novel, Mind the Killer.
