The "heart and soul" of a Norfolk cinema, who has worked there for almost half a century, now has a screen named after her.

The Regal Movieplex in Cromer, operated by Merlin Cinemas, recently underwent a major refurbishment.

To coincide with this, screen four has been renamed The Angie Wordingham Suite and its namesake first started working there in August 1980.

Angie Wordingham, 55, who lives in the town, got a summer cleaning job there when she was 12 and her mum Olive, now 86, worked as a cinema assistant at the time.

Angie has been the assistant manager since she was 18, which is a role she still holds today.

In 2020, she was a finalist in BAFTA's For the Love of Film competition that recognised community heroes.

She said: "I absolutely love my job with all the lovely, loyal customers and the amazing team here.

"I was very emotional when I found out the screen was being named after me - it is a beautiful gesture." 

Mike Lodge, general manager, said: "Angie is the heart and soul of the cinema and I hope she never leaves."
