A Norfolk MP has run two marathons just seven days apart to raise £25,000 for local charities.

Duncan Baker, MP for North Norfolk, has completed his double marathon challenge - running the Norfolk Marathon on Sunday (April 28), just a week after crossing the finish line of the London Marathon (April 21).

He raised £25,000 for 52 north Norfolk charities, one for every mile of the two marathons combined, who will each receive a share of the total.

Overall, the MP has now raised £112,000 since running his first marathon in 2021.

Mr Baker said: “To everyone that has supported me so generously, I can’t thank you enough.

"Since I started preparing for these challenges I never thought I would be able to run two major marathons back-to-back, but I did it.

"This job is a privilege. Using my spare time to help these little charities is something I wanted to do because I know how much they mean to our communities.

"I know first-hand that the money raised will make a real difference - this is for them.

"There is one person who I owe my success to: my trainer Andy Kett, from Sheringham. He has been a tower of strength getting my body in shape and staying injury free.”
