A second north Norfolk leisure centre is set to have solar panels installed after receiving a six-figure grant from the government.
Victory Swim and Fitness Centre in North Walsham will benefit from new solar panels after North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) was awarded £174,725 from the government’s Swimming Pool Support Fund (SPSF).
The fund is available to local authorities to improve the energy efficiency of public leisure centres.
The energy generated at the Station Road leisure centre will help reduce reliance on the national grid and lower running costs for the facility, which is run by the council’s leisure operator, Everyone Active.

A similar £500,000 solar panel car port scheme was completed at The Reef Leisure Centre in Sheringham last year.
Adam Varley, portfolio holder for net zero and climate at NNDC, said: “This is fantastic news and the funding is welcome as we continue to decarbonise our estate.
"In bringing renewable solar energy to Victory we will be able to generate our own power and reduce the carbon footprint of the facility.”
