It’s a festive feast for the eyes and ears which guarantees to get audiences into the Christmas spirit.
The annual Thursford Christmas Spectacular, back for its 46th year, is a must-see seasonal spectacle of singing, dancing and variety in a winter wonderland tucked between the pitch-black fields and winding country lanes of rural north Norfolk.
The show is a Christmas cocktail of classic songs, traditional angelic carols, can-canning, hand-clapping, toe-tapping dancing, and a line-up of talented variety acts.
The scale of the production is part of what makes the Christmas Spectacular at Thursford so extravagant, with a cast of more than 120 singers, dancers and orchestra.
Entering the theatre is like walking into Santa’s grotto, complete with twinkling lights and the famous carousel, with wreaths and icicles hanging from the ceiling.
Credit to the backstage crews behind the scenes - the costumes, slick transitions and choreography are superb.
The show’s host, comedy wordsmith Lloyd Hollett, is hilarious with a charismatic charm and wit which audiences of all ages can warm to and enjoy.
Hollett’s 30-year career in show businesses has seen him perform in 25 pantomimes and on more than 500 cruises.
German husband and wife duo Sven and Jan Rauhe’s roller skating acrobatics is mesmerising yet nail-biting, and extreme mountain biker Danny Butler’s stunts were impressive.
Jugglers Strahlemann and Sohne, together with their suitcases, are both talented and humorous - drawing laughs from the audience as the pair juggled comically between each other.
It really is a must-see to get you into the spirit of Christmas.
The 2023 show runs until December 23.
