A retired art teacher has put brush to paper to create his own exhibition. 

Rory Kent, who was raised in Aylsham and taught at the town’s high school during his 39-year career, is displaying works, many featuring scenes from the north Norfolk coast, in Norwich.

Mr Kent said he drew his inspiration from Norfolk landscapes including sandy beaches, coastal towns and harbours and rugged cliff formations. 

North Norfolk News: One of Rory Kent's worksOne of Rory Kent's works (Image: Rory Kent)He said he learned his craft from one of the county's most distinguished watercolour artists, Jason Partner, who taught him techniques including washes, transparent layers and the working ‘wet in wet’.

Mr Kent retired from Aylsham High School last year after almost four decades working. He had studied art at King's Lynn Technical College and Aberystwyth University.
