The owners of a north Norfolk village’s newest café have said they hope to offer “something a bit different” at the seafront.
No.17 opened in the former The View restaurant in Beach Road, Mundesley, on Monday (August 28), and owners Oliver and Laura Deakin said it had been a busy opening week.
Mr Deakin, 42, who used to manage the New Inn in Roughton and worked at the Royal Hotel in Mundesley, said: “It’s been so busy because we opened on bank holiday Monday and had nice weather as well."
“On our opening day, we put on a free tasting session for people in the village, letting them try our coffees, baguettes and fresh doughnuts.
“It gave them the chance to try what’s on offer and what we’re all about.”
No.17 serves a range of hot baguettes featuring locally sourced ingredients, such as pulled pork, chicken, and sausages from Butchers Joint in Cromer, and Cromer crab and prawns from North Norfolk Fish Company in Holt.

The café's coffee is supplied by Calypso Coffee in North Walsham, and the Deakins said they had been perfecting their coffee brewing skills.
“There are already a couple of great cafés in Mundesley and it didn’t seem viable to open just another café,” Mr Deakin said.
“We wanted to do something a bit different and chose to go down the route of hot baguettes.
“It’s all quality produce, simply prepared.

“We’ve received some really positive feedback and we’re really grateful for all the support we’ve had from the village so far.
“It has far exceeded our expectations.”
Mr and Mrs Deakin have spent around £30,000 on restoring the building, which was formerly Jonet restaurant, and later The View.
