A lifeboat crew was called to rescue four people and two dogs cut off by the tide.
HM Coastguard paged the RNLI Wells inshore lifeboat at 6.42pm yesterday (August 19) to assist the group cut off by the incoming tide on the high sands to the west of Wells-next-the-sea harbour.
The lifeboat, with a crew of three, made it to those stranded by 6.57pm and took them back to shore.
They did not require further assistance.
A further two people were also cut off by the water to the east but were already wading to the shore and made it safely back to the beach.
The call-out prompted a warning from the RNLI, of the dangers of incoming tides.
A spokesman for Wells RNLI, said: "In light of today’s call out, RNLI Wells would like to highlight the importance of always checking tide times before heading out.

"People should carry a fully charged and operational mobile phone, in a waterproof pouch or case, so you can call the Coastguard in an emergency, or use it as a light to attract attention.
"Make sure that you notify family or friends of your plans and the time you are expected to advise them you are safely back to the mainland."
As a precaution, the lifeboat did a shoreline sweep to see if anyone else was in danger of being cut off by the incoming tide.
