This year's Wells Carnival promises to be one of the biggest in the more than 100-year history of the event.
Ten days of festivities start today (July 28), with the action leading up to 'carnival day' -on Saturday, August 5.
This will feature a parade through the streets of the town, leaving from the Buttlands at 3pm.
The carnival will also feature magic shows, a cocktail evening, history walks, and live music - with most events being free-of-charge or with only a small fee to take part.
Carnival chair, Pat Weston, said this year's carnival would be one to remember.
Mr Weston said: "Myself and the wonderful Wells Carnival committee are very much looking forward to the week.
"The amazing support from the town and local businesses is so very appreciated and makes all the long hours worth it.

"The Wells Carnival has given over £100,000 in the last 10 years to local charities. Even in these hard times, we are always surprised by how much we're able to raise.
"It's going to be great fun for all ages, let the fun begin."
'Fete day' takes place this Sunday (July 30). There will also be a food and craft fair and events taking place at the Maltings, the Buttlands, Gordon Barrett Memorial Hall and Wells Town Football Club.
Across the 10 days, people can also see a range of live music and film screenings at the Maltings.
This year’s carnival queen is 19-year-old Stephanie Frary.
Earlier this year, Wells was named the country's second 'coolest place to live' in a survey by supplement brand Naturecan.
