School staff and leaders at Cromer Academy are celebrating after education watchdog Ofsted renewed its ‘good’ rating.
Inspectors visited the Norwich Road academy on May 23-24 and decided it deserved to keep its positive grade, having previously rated it in 2016.
Darren Hollingsworth, principal, said: “We are extremely proud that the report acknowledges the strength of our school culture, curriculum and our sense of pride in the Cromer community.
“We very explicitly teach our school values and the inspection team could not fail to notice that our values are not simply ‘words on a wall’ but rather a way of life at Cromer.
“Staff, pupils and families all share this report as we all work together to create this very special Cromer experience.”
In their report, inspectors Dave Gibson and Jason Howard said: “Pupils enjoy an offer of a broad range of wider opportunities.
“They learn British sign language, learn to cook, write for a newspaper or present a radio show. Many pupils, including pupils with SEND, enthusiastically take up this offer.”
The secondary comprehensive school has 692 pupils aged 11 to 16 on its roll.
