Aylsham is fast becoming a haven for foodies - and a new team wants a ‘pizza’ that action.
Lorraine and Vik Khanna and Sean Cannon are transforming the town’s former post office building into Stamp Pizza, which will have seating for more than 100 diners over two floors.
Mr Cannon said they wanted to turn the new restaurant into a highlight of Aylsham’s growing dining scene.
He said: “The town’s population is said to have doubled in the past five years, and with working from home being more common since Covid, there are a lot more upwardly mobile people coming in.
“There is this real pent-up demand for good places to eat. I’ve always thought this town has the potential for a really good quality restaurant that relies on local ingredients and can do big celebration bookings.
“When the post office came up I thought, this has got to be a restaurant. We want to breathe new life into it.
“The concept is based around a simple menu with wood-fired pizzas. It will be somewhere really approachable, but high quality.”
The building, which is just off the Market Place in Hungate Street, was last used as a post office in 2011, and in recent years it has been occupied by a fitness centre.
As well as the name, Mr Cannon said Stamp Pizza would feature other homages to the building’s postal past.
He said: “Many Aylsham residents will recall their trips to the post office and we hope it will bring back memories and a touch of nostalgia in a contemporary setting.”
He said he and the Khannas were all in their early 40s. They are neighbours in Aylsham, and are all business owners already with experience in hospitality.
They are planning to open on March 16.
