Motorists in Cromer will face “significant” disruption due to an emergency road closure.
The junction of A148 West Street, Cabbell Road and Hall Road is expected to be closed around 5pm today (Wednesday, February 15) for around a week due to works on a leaking gas main.
It is understood gas company Cadent will need to close the junction - near the town’s Morrison’s supermarket - completely, leaving road users to find a diversion.
Tim Adams - a town, district and county councillor for Cromer - said: “I understand this is essential but very frustrating as they only left the site about a week ago following a previous gas leak in a nearby location.
“This will be very frustrating to nearby residents, commuters and drivers this week, so I would urge Cadent to get this done work entirely, and as soon as possible.”
Mr Adams said he understood a hole of around 1.8 metres would need to be dug for the works. He said a suitable diversion for HGVs would be Beach Road to A149 Runton Road.
Cadent has also been contacted for a comment.
