Three Norfolk boys have taken on 21 teams from Suffolk in a robotics competition - and won.
Sheringham High School pupils Leo Malakar, 13, Noah Heath, 13, and William Cokayne, 14, formed the only ‘private’ team taking part in the contest as the rest were representing their schools.
Calling themselves the Players, Leo, Noah and William built a machine that can move disks across a small field, a bit like a robotic game of hockey.
They won both major awards - for teamwork and skills - at the event, the Suffolk Regional VEX IQ Competition in Stowmarket.
in a statement the boys said: "We didn't know what to expect before the tournament and so were a bit nervous but it was exciting when we were there.
“It was fun to meet the other teams and see their robots."
Following their win, the Players will be one of 60 teams to take part in a National VEX IQ Competition, which will be held in Telford International Centre next month.
Leo, Noah and William worked on their design after school and at weekends.
