A fundraising effort to deliver generators to Ukraine has received an 'extraordinary' reaction.
Duncan Baker, MP for North Norfolk, said the charity drive has raised more than £16,000, which means more than 89 generators will be delivered to the war-torn country next month.
Mr Baker, who has been organising the campaign with Rob Scammell, Michelle Foulkes and Paul East, said the response was "beyond our wildest dreams".
"We never could have imagined it when we first started," he said.
The generators will help to provide medical care, light, heat, communications and a means to cook food in Ukraine, where temperatures range from -1C to -8C in February.
Mr Baker said: "We've raised approximately £16,000 from donations from people across north Norfolk.
"That's been absolutely amazing. We've also been receiving donations from around the country."
The organisers have made contact with an aid agency in Ukraine, who are satisfied with the mixture of generators.
Some will be for residential use while others are large output generators, of which some will be used for the military in areas like Bakhmut, where the fighting is fiercest.
Last week, Mr Baker travelled to London to see the Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom to tell him about the charity drive.
The ambassador will help the organisers with paperwork to ensure they have a smooth journey through the border.
Mr Baker said he was "incredibly touched" by what north Norfolk residents have done for Ukraine.
The MP and the other organisers will be helping deliver the generators to Ukraine next month - but due to security reasons will not be able to reveal when it has happened until they have gone into the country and safely crossed the border back into Poland.
He said: "We're conscious of the weather. It is extremely cold out there.
"It's a risky venture due to the level of fighting," he added.
People can still donate to the fundraising effort by visiting justgiving.com/crowdfunding/duncan-baker-nnpower4ukraine.
People can also buy a generator themselves at a cost of between £250 and £1,000, and deliver it to Cafe Kitale in St Nicholas Court, North Walsham, which Mr Scammell owns.
Generators can also be collected. To arrange, call Mr Scammell on 01692 407015.
