Blickling's Garden of Lights puts famous site in a festive light

The landmark stately home is being bathed in festive hues as part of an event called the Garden of Lights, which runs until December 18.

Thousands of bulbs and spotlights have been placed at strategic spots to highlight not only the historic hall, but also its gardens and outbuildings including a doric temple and orangery.

Sebastian Billing, Blickling's experience and visitor programme manager, said: "We have two distinct offers this year, the sensationally decorated house during the daytime and our signature evening lights.

"Both are wonderful, unique experiences and well worth popping in the calendar."

The Garden of Light runs 4pm–8pm. For visits from 11am–2pm, Blickling's rooms are decorated along the lines of a 1930s Christmas party.

Visitors can write a vintage Christmas card, decorate a tree, see cooks prepare for Christmas Day in the kitchen or take a whirl on an 'ice ball' dancefloor in the hall's long gallery.
